Building a home from scratch provides the homeowner with the unique opportunity to tailor make their dream home, Michael and Kathy Blair took up this opportunity, and are in the process of completing their 3,000 square foot house, on just under an acre of land at Hillsborough, County Down.
“This project has been a long time coming. We looked everywhere from Antrim to Lisburn, Belfast and Jordanstown for our perfect site, and we found it here at Hillsborough. We love to cook, and so for us, one of the most important considerations was designing our kitchen, and how we would power it. As a family, we have always used gas, but as our new home is not connected to the gas network, we had to start looking at other options. ”
“Gas has always been our first choice in terms of cooking, providing instant heat and responsive temperature control. So it was our first choice when we were deciding what type of energy would power our new home. We got in touch with Calor, and the team were extremely helpful in assessing the energy needs of our home. We made use of their rent-a-tank and free boiler offer. As a result, we made savings on our build costs. Now that we have a tank installed, and with the evenings getting longer, we are even thinking of using the tank to power an outdoor BBQ or fire pit, so maybe we can cook up a storm outdoors this summer!”
“You often hear of people having a stressful and difficult experience when they are building a new home. However this could not have been further from the truth in our experience. Our contractors Viewpoint Developments have been incredible. We have just welcomed a new baby and so completing our new home was a priority for us. Ben Snoddon, of Viewpoint, was absolutely tremendous, and has pulled out all the stops to make sure we get into our house as soon as possible. It looks like Ben and his team will finish the build 12 weeks ahead of schedule and our gas tank has already been installed, warming up the house for our arrival.”
Ben Snoddon, Viewpoint Developments: “It is really exciting
to see a new build project like this come together. A new build gives
the homeowner a unique opportunity to choose every component of their
home, from the building materials, electrical components, and the energy
that will ultimately power the whole operation. I myself use Calor Gas
in my own home, so can first hand vouch for its convenience and
practicality as a fuel type. The Calor Gas team are fantastic to work
with, from the representatives to the onsite engineers to the home
energy support team who offer backup and support to customers, dealing
with the team is seamless. For a busy family, having access to instant
heat in the home, a more controllable cooking option and hot water on
demand makes life that little bit easier, which is why I recommend it.
It has been a pleasure working on this project with Michael and Kathy,
and I’m sure the family will have many happy years to come in their
dream home.”
